Well, by now you all know that this past weekend will go down in history as one of the best in my life. I’ll tell you everything in 2 parts, starting with this post!
I was invited to attend the Stellenbosch Fine Wine & Food Fest. The event took place at the Stellenbosch Town Hall. Of course I couldn’t say no to this invitation because… wine! So I jumped at the opportunity.
Maurice wasn’t going to go with me initially. It was supposed to be a girl’s weekend away. It just so happened that my girl, Samantha, couldn’t make it in time. Maurice decided to accompany me, and we made it into a mini holiday.
We booked a cute little AirBnB in Stellenbosch. This made it easier to grab an uber to the venue.
Food & Wine fun
The Stellenbosch Fine Wine & Food Fest started at 5pm. We were welcomed with funky beats, a light show and of course some bubbly!
The Town Hall was decorated with trees, pink lights, and beautiful people.
We started off with some food because one has to create a lining of gourmet food to taste fine wine of course!
The food served was little tidbits of scrumptious magic from renowned chefs such as Bertus Basson, George Jardine, Michael Deg and Michael Broughton.
There was also a harvest table with delicacies such as cheese, hummus, olives and fruits.
The wines we tasted were the very best on offer in the Stellenbosch wine region.
Tickets to the Stellenbosch Fine Wine and Food Fest were R500 each – well worth every cent for the amount of food, wine and entertainment guests received.
I can see this event growing in the future and although the Town House was rather quaint, I do foresee a bigger venue for next year.
This was a brilliant start to what was to become one of the best weekends of my existence. We will definitely be back next year!
