A few weeks back I received a PR drop from John Frieda. It was probably the most thought provoking drop because along with the products, they also sent me a 5 litre bottle of water. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, the wash day struggle in Cape Town is real, so thank you John Frieda!
I didn’t really know much about John Frieda. Yes, I’ve seen the brand around but I didn’t believe it was meant for my type of hair. After using a few of the products for the past few weeks I have once again learnt the lesson that one should never judge a book by its cover.
John Frieda has a Frizz Ease range which is especially designed for girls with curls. I was immediately drawn to the Curl Reviver Mousse, mainly because I had never tried a mousse on my hair before. The product on its own felt a little sticky, but then I read the directions for use and discovered it was best used with the Nourishing Oil Elixir. So for the past two weeks my routine has been spritzing my hair with the John Frieda Leave in Conditioner, adding the Oil Elixir to the palm of my hand and pumping out a dollop of Curl Reviver Mousse. Results: BOMB CURLS.
I must admit that I was really not expecting my hair to feel so light and look as glossy. The products contain some silicones which I know is not exactly in the naturalista’s guide to great ingredients. However, after the trying week I’ve had, John Frieda’s Frizz Ease was exactly the quick fix I needed to tame my mane.
My favourite product from the line is hands down the Oil Elixir which retails for about R149.
