My Top 5 at #ClicksCurls

My Top 5 at #ClicksCurls

COMPETITION CLOSED*COMPETITION CLOSED*COMPETITION CLOSED*

Okay, let me get this off my chest. Hello, my name is Amanda and I am a product junkie. I didn’t realise how much of a junkie I really was until the #ClicksCurls event took place. Walking from brand to brand, smelling all those deliciously tropical, pure scents of yummy moisturizing products –  okay, maybe I need a bit of an intervention. Not that it will help though.

I remember starting on this journey a few years ago, walking into Clicks and wishing they stocked more products for my hair. You can only imagine how happy my heart is with so many choices at hand these days! I’ve tried my fair share of products and I often get asked which my personal favourites are. This is such a loaded question because my hair is temperamental and my holy grail changes from season to season. But I’ve promised a few of you that I would name my top 5 brands at #ClicksCurls, so in no particular order, here they are:

Afro Botanics

I have so much admiration and respect for owner, Ntombenhle Khathwane. Ntombenhle left her job to pursue her dream – to create AfroBotanics. She is as authentically natural as the products she makes and one can’t help but feel proud of this South African brand. The products work well on all hair types and the Repairing and Strengthening Treatment is a firm favourite in our household.

Cantu

Cantu’s Coconut Curling Cream is one of the reasons my curls keep popping whenever I do my wash n go. It’s the perfect “C” for my L.O.C method. I was so excited when I received these miniatures at #ClicksCurls because I had just finished my jar the Friday before!

Twisted Sista

Twisted Sista was one of the first natural hair brands to pop up on Clicks shelves a few years back. The brand disappeared for awhile, but I am so happy that they’re back with a bang! I am mad about their intensive leave-in conditioner, because it is nourishing and thick and exactly what my hair needs in the humid months.

Aunt Jackies

I know that Aunt Jackie’s Curl La La is a favourite for many, but their Quench Leave In Conditioner is my absolute go to. I probably have about 3 bottles stashed away in case of an emergency. You can imagine my excitement when I discovered that Aunt Jackie’s has a new line coming out very soon! I was given a few products in the coconut creme line to try out – watch this space for more…

Shea Moisture

SheaMoisture’s Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie was my lust-have for many years. I can’t remember when or how I received my first jar, but I do know that I treasured it as if it were my own child. My heart literally stopped when I spotted the brand on Clicks shelves (think I even shed a tear but I can neither confirm nor deny that). My love for SheaMoisture runs deep, but that is a story for another day.

That makes up my favourite 5 at #ClicksCurls, but a special mention has to go out to…

Caivil

Caivil will soon launch their Marula Oil line at Clicks and I cannot wait to sink my fingers into these products. If you spot them on the shelves, let me know!

I have a #ClicksCurls hamper to giveaway!! If you’re an aspiring product junkie like me, you don’t want to miss out on this. All you have to do is:

  1. Follow me and tag 2 friends on Instagram
  2. Subscribe to my blog
  3. Let me know what your 5 fave natural hair products available at Clicks are in the comment section below.

NB: The competition is only open to South African citizens.

pssst… #ClicksCurls brands are on a 3 for 2 promo right now at the #ClicksBeautyFair. Whoohoo!!

Good Luck!

    I love this post!!

The Clicks Curls event was just what I needed to learn more about the South African brands we have available to us as well as all the international ones!

    My Top 5:

    1) Twisted Sista: I’ve been using this brand (leave-in, Curl Activator and gel) for about 4 months now and it is honestly my holy grail! I never have a bad hair day with the combo.
    2) Cantu: The twist and lock gel from Cantu is amazing! Definitely one of my favourite gels for twists outs as well as wash n go’s.
    3) Shea Moisture: I haven’t really tried any of their styling products but their Jamaican Black Castor Oil Deep Conditioner is literally my favourite DC. I received the leave-in from Clicks Curls from the same line and fell in love! The slip and moisture it gives is beyond anything!
    4) Aunt Jackie’s: I think every girl that decides to go natural heads for Aunt Jackies brand because you absolutely cannot go wrong! The Curl La La La is great and I’m excited to try out their new line.
    5) Design Essentials: Ok, this brand has me! They gave out sachets of their dual hydration milk and I couldn’t believe it covered all my hair and my curls were bouncy and shiny!

So that is my top 5 brands from the Clicks Curls event. I cannot wait for the next one!

I'm living for Afrobotanics rn! So they're definitely number 1 right now. I think next is the My Natural Hair range (because Strengthening Oil is bae), the good ol' Aunt Jackies (very jealous I'm going to have to sit out the coconut range because of my fussy skin :l), Design Essentials (because sometimes you must treat yo self XD) and Black Like Me. Can't wait for more videos! 😀

My Top 5 has to be the following in no particular order:
    – Aunt Jackie’s Curl La La
Defines my curls proper and when I step into the room people smell my hair first. Who needs perfume with this great aroma.

    – ORS Curls Unleashed Intensive Conditioner
The first conditioner I tried that really gave life to my then dry looking curls.

    – Dark & Lovely Amla Legend Replenishing Hair Mask
I bought the sachet and kept it probably for a couple of months. Then I saw it as I unpacked my drawer and tried it. I immediately thought why was I so stupid to not use this. My hair got such a fright it felt super hydrated which lasted about 3 weeks.

    – Dr Miracles Curl Care Nourishing Conditioner
I got this sample in a Clicks store about 2 years ago and tried it. It’s proper stuff for sure 👌

    – Easy Waves: Curl Activator gel & comb out Conditioner Hairspray pack
Now this is for when the budget is low and you want popping curls. Really helped me out 🙏

    My favourite products:
    1) Design Essentials Almond Avocado Moist & Detangling Shampoo – I used it on Saturday for wash day and it really left my hair super silky and soft.
    2) Cantu Coconut Curling Cream – love the tangy smell and it keeps my hair juicy and moisturised.
    3) Sunny Isle Jamaican Black Castor Oil – I have been using this for a while, to stretch it I mixed it with an array of other oils for low porosity hair.
    4) Palmer’s deep conditioning protein pack – I used this last week as well, the smell of coconut is potent but it has done what it said on the pack fed my hair all the essential goodness it needed.
    5) Shea Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner – I can’t really say what it has done for my hair but its a very popular brand and I am excited to see what it has in store for my kinks and coils.

Hopefully will become a product junkie. I’ve recently been trying to get the right products for my hair 😍😍. So here’s my list:

    1. Originals olive oil products have worked for me. I really loved the hair mayonnaise and I just realised I miss it now because I only use the leave-in conditoner.

    2. Aunt Jackie’s great as well. However I only use the curl la la. Smells divine and is great as a moisturizer. I love that it isn’t oil based ’cause that stuff weighs hair done.

    3. Recently started using Palmer’s coconut oil formula products. They smell great too. I got the curling pudding as well as the deep conditioning pack. Can’t wait to try them.

4.One thing I’m still waiting to try are some of the Cantu products. Want to really find out if they’re worth it.

    5. The Dark and Lovely Au naturale are at the top of my to try list.
