Welcome to Cape Town Curly

Well how’s this for a great start to 2017! I have a brand new name and website. I’m so fancy! I think if you were watching my progress on social media, you kinda had a clue this was going to transpire. Now I don’t want you to feel sad about The Mandy Expedition – all her stories and memories are still with us. You can find everything – Yes, including the recipe for The Mandy Mix – in between the walls of Cape Town Curly (check under popular posts).

My blogger life turns 3 this month and what better way to celebrate by changing things around here. It has been on the cards for a while and I decided that it’s time to start ticking off my goals:

  1. New blog *tick.
  2. Be featured in a magazine again *tick *tick (Ackermans magazine did a feature on my hair story and Kuier magazine did a telephonic interview with me – both of their February 2017 editions)
  3. Co-host another hair event for 2017  *tick (Curls & Cocktails – 25 March 2017)
  4. Bring out more t-shirt designs *tick

Not a bad way to start off the year if I do say so myself! You see, last year I made so many promises to the world, but then 2016 was… well, 2016. This year I decided to be quiet about my plans, keep my head down, and concentrate on building my empire. So far, so good.

What can you expect?

Cape Town Curly is going to be about everything that I love and I hope you will continue to join me on my journey. I will still concentrate on natural hair, but I will also be chatting about my gorgeous city, events that can’t be missed and causes I believe in. There may even be a fashion & beauty post here and there. Think of Cape Town Curly as The Mandy Expedition on steroids!

What better way to start off the new chapter in my life by bringing out yet another design. Surprise! Unlike A Vrou with a Fro, which was released this past weekend, I’ve keep this one a secret as I wanted it to coincide with the launch of the blog. This one perfectly describes my mood for 2017. I am very proud to introduce to you –  “Queening”

A competition to celebrate

Since I am obviously quite excited about life right now, I want you to share in it with me. I will be giving away a mystery bag filled with a few of my favourite things. If you would like to enter, please make sure to sign up to my newsletter (via the pop-up box), comment below and click a few of the follow buttons below this post. Would love to hear from you.

Wow this is so exciting to see our young woman doing their own thing. For far too long our woman of coloir was strapped to the man’s hip. I’m encouraging my girls..ages 23 and 19 to have rolemodels like you. I’m trying to very open minded, but lets face it im norn in the 70’s…i can show them to be proud of who they are, go for what you want, don’t take no for an answer, your strenth as a woman are yours, so own it and such but when it comes to who took the bull by the horns i have to bow out gracefully to show them the next level of growth for us as woman…and i thank you and so many others that is there for them. They need you ladies to show them how so they can take it to the next level and then in turn show their young one’s.

Hey! This is really a movement all women need to be apart of. Thank you for allowing yourself to inspire, and brake down the thoughts of society about what defines beauty. This is a really great idea and i would be super excited if i had the opportunity to actually win!!! I recently started my hair journey so i have soooooo much to learn and i have read a piece regarding the mandys expedition i was really inspired and educated and yet again i have been reassured that you need to dream, set goals and fearlesy press on towards that you want to achieve. I want to wish you all the best on this journey and i am so excited to celebrate you. I love the page, love the tshirt ideas. I want i want! You are impacting more than what you understand. So mamy women are learning to pick themselves up again, and this fab queening top makes a public statement guuuuuuurl!

Wow wow wow!!! Where does one even start a month ago I was feeling really low… just completely uncomfortable in my own skin… like I was living a lie… continually striving to be this person I knew I wasn’t… I was introduced to your FB page as well as the support group, you and the girls on those pages have changed my life…To some this is just hair and it isn’t that deep, but to me this was a mental breakthrough.. don’t ever doubt what your platforms have meant to girls like me!!! Boasikpp and proud🙏🏼 From the bottom of my heart thank you 💛🌼💛 nearly 30 and I feel like I’ve only just met myself🌼
